About the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

Nova Management College is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning and working environment for all students, faculty, and staff. In accordance with the POSH Act 2013, the college has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to prevent, prohibit, and redress complaints related to sexual harassment and to promote gender sensitization on campus.
The ICC ensures that every individual feels secure and empowered, and that grievances are addressed fairly, promptly, and confidentially.

Objectives of the ICC

  • To create a safe and harassment-free campus for students, faculty, and non-teaching staff.
  • To prevent sexual harassment through awareness programs, workshops, and sensitization.
  • To provide a confidential and accessible mechanism for lodging complaints
  • To ensure fair, unbiased, and timely inquiry into complaints.
  • To recommend appropriate action against the guilty based on the inquiry findings.

Scope

The ICC addresses issues of sexual harassment involving:

  • Students
  • Teaching and non-teaching staff
  • Visitors and guests
  • Any individual present on campus or at college-related events

Composition of the ICC

  • Presiding Officer
    A senior woman faculty member
  • Faculty Members (2–3)
    Preferably with experience in social work, legal knowledge, or gender studies
  • Non-Teaching Staff Representative (1)
  • Student Representatives (2)
    One undergraduate and one postgraduate (if applicable)
  • External Member (1)
    From an NGO or legal background knowledgeable in women’s issues (mandatory as per POSH Act)

Functions of the ICC

  • Receive written complaints of harassment.
  • Conduct preliminary evaluation and formal inquiry.
  • Provide assistance to the complainant to file police reports if required.
  • Recommend disciplinary action or corrective measures.
  • Maintain records of complaints, actions taken, and outcomes.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on gender sensitization and respectful behavior.

Complaint Procedure

  • 1. The complainant must submit a written and signed complaint to the ICC within 3 months of the incident.
  • 2. The ICC will acknowledge receipt and initiate a confidential inquiry
  • 3. Both complainant and respondent will be given equal opportunity to present evidence and witnesses.
  • 4. The ICC will complete the inquiry within 90 days.
  • 5. Final recommendations will be submitted to the college authorities for implementation.

Confidentiality

All proceedings are strictly confidential. The identity of the complainant, respondent, and witnesses will not be disclosed to anyone not involved in the process.
